Just as bad weather tore through the north-west the prior day, Manchester City swept the visitors aside at the Etihad. It was a convincing three goal triumph for the City coach's side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their leadership claims as they reinforced their position at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Defeats for United

This outcome signalled successive league losses for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.
