Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the tragedy, public personalities shared different responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser could have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
