News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Significant Return to Panem
The actors are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
