Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton manager - who made over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to provide any compensation.
