Chinese Government Condemns America of ‘Hypocritical Policies’ Over Tariff Threat
Trump’s latest threat to introduce an extra complete levy on Chinese goods has been labeled a “classic case” of United States’ contradictory behavior, according to the China’s leadership.
A official from China’s Commerce Ministry also stated that the nation could enact its own unspecified “responsive actions” if the American leader carries out his pledge, adding that the country was “unafraid” of a possible commercial battle.
Last Friday, Trump retaliated at the Chinese government’s action to tighten its regulations for foreign shipments of rare earth minerals, charging Beijing of “adopting a confrontational stance” and attempting to hold the international market “under its control”.
Furthermore, he threatened to pull out of a arranged meeting with Beijing’s head of state President Xi, which was arranged for a meeting in South Korea in the coming weeks.
The former president’s remarks on last Friday shook global markets, with the benchmark US stock index falling by nearly three percent, marking its biggest drop since last spring.
The president’s words reignited fears of a trade conflict between the United States and China.
In May, the two sides had reached an agreement to eliminate high import duties on each other’s imports, which had led to concerns of bilateral trade stopping between the economic powers.

The action was viewed as a significant step, as the state refines about ninety percent of the world’s rare earths, which are employed in products such as solar panels and smartphones.
New remarks from Washington and Beijing are being viewed by observers as a strategy of bolstering negotiating stances prior to forthcoming discussions.
