Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
